Donate your car to Alder Hey Children's Charity
Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 275,000 patients and families cared for every year.
More about Alder Hey Children's Charity
Over the past 4 years over £25 million has been raised for a range of life-saving medical equipment and facilities that are making a real difference to families every day. But your support is still needed for vital research, innovation, education and maintaining and developing the highest quality care services. An old car donation to Alder Hey Children's charity could go towards any of these areas and ensure the very best care for patients from their comfort to treatment.
Research, innovation and education
Your support will help the charity develop the next generation of safer and more effective medicines and treatments to benefit young patients at Alder Hey and children across the world. A new state of the art research and innovation facility is being developed to support this vision.
Funds enable doctors to utilise cutting edge technology so they can treat children more effectively. New sensor technology is being tested to help identify infections and children’s X-Rays are being printed in 3D so surgeons can use them as a guide in surgery.
The hospital also trains nearly 1,000 healthcare professionals each year, who are learning the latest skills and techniques from some of the world’s leading clinicians and researchers.
Fresh food-on-demand service
Good nutrition is critical for patients who are recovering in hospital. Poor nutrition can lead to weight loss, a weakened immune system and slower recovery - resulting in longer hospital stays for young patients.
Alder Hey is the first children's hospital in the UK to have dedicated chefs on every patient ward who prepare fresh meals for patients, whenever they want to eat. Families already love this service, which provides vital nutrition, a better experience in hospital, as well as reducing food waste. Your donation means this service can continue and be enhanced by liaison with dieticians and education programmes for families and staff.
Next-generation technology to change hospital visits
Your support will also go towards the charity's revolution of the hospital experience for young patients and families. A pilot of next-generation technology has been a real success so far and funds are now needed to transform other waiting areas into entertaining and fun environments for patients, and to develop an app to help manage anxiety before arriving, enabling patients to explore a digital version of Alder Hey in the Park to see their ward and meet staff. This app would also provide games and augmented reality features to distract patients during their stay and allow parents to securely store key information, all to provide a better experience and help clinicians provide a more personalized service.
